* BioPic: My name is Ian Colin Wright and I am 33 years of age. My *
* computer is a Amiga 2000, CBM flicker fixer, NEC multisync monitor, *
* GVP hard card and 2 meg expansion, Quantum hard drive, Epson *
* LQ-1000 printer. I was until recently employed by ACT Health *
* Services. I intended having an extended holiday for a few months *
* before finding another job. However things changed and I am now *
* working in the private sector in Canberra. I use my amiga mainly for *
* relaxation (GAMES and tinkering), and occasionally serious work. *

SimCity Funds Adjustor
*************************
* *
* Public Domain By Richard Ling *
* *
* This is a neat little program which allows you to cheat. It allows *
* adjustment of funds for a city so that you do not run out of money. *
* Any amount of money up to $2,000,000,000 can be set. It will change *
* the funds of a citywithout making any other alterations to the *
* city. *
* *
* I obtained this program from a friend. It was incorporated within a *
* disc of programs by the same author. I extracted this program and *
* made an icon for it, and it now resides in the SimCity drawer on my *
* hard drive. There was no documentation to indicate that this program *
* cannot be distributed. I have included a copy of it. *
* *
* It is simple in its use. Opening the utility brings up a screen with *
* three selections possible. *
* *
* Selecting "load city" will bring up a requester asking for the name *
* of the city you wish to adjust funds for. As I keep this program in *
* a drawer on my hard disc with SimCity, I do not use a full path *
* name. Floppy disc users may need to specify a full path. *
* *
* Next, selecting "set funds" brings up a requester asking what level *
* of funds you wish to set. *
* *
* Finally selecting "save city" brings up a requester asking for the *
* name to be used for the saved city. *
* *
* I would recommend that alterations to cities never be done on the *
* original copy of SimCity. *
* *
* This program is excellent for Sim players who want to cheat without *
* the game throwing disasters at their cities. *
* *

SimCity Print Utilities
***********************
* *
* Commercial Software - Maxis Software *
* *
* These utilities can be freely distributed provided the obligations *
* in the "Readme" file are observed. I have included a copy of these. *
* *
*
Print City BW
*
* *
* The printing of cities with a black and white printer is less than *
* ideal with SimCity. "Print City BW" is a gift from MAXIS to allow *
* printing of cities in black and white. Unlike the game print *
* function, the output is quite clear to view. *
* *
* Why print cities? It makes visualising of the city easy, and helps *
* to plan strategies. *
* *
* The utility is simple to use. Opening the utility brings up a *
* requester with two options. Selecting "Load City" brings up a *
* directory listing requester to select a city from. *
* *
* Once the city is identified, select print city from the requester. *
* Both single and poster size are available. I only use single page *
* and print at a density of 6 (using Epson LQ-100). Highest densities *
* are recommended for single page and slow printing some what. *
* *
* I find this an excellent utility and don't know why is was not in *
* the original SimCity. *
* *
*
City2IFF
*
* *
* This utility allows a city file to be converted into an IFF picture. *
* I dont know why you would want to do this. I tried this utility and *
* it seems to work. *

SimCity - Strategies and Secrets
**********************
* *
*
A book by Nick Dargahi, Sybex Company
*
* *
* This book is for Mac and PC versions of SimCity. The first chapter *
* is concerned with setting up and customising for the Mac and PC. *
* However this is the only chapter that has little use to the AMIGA *
* SimCity player. Other chapters mention some things that do not *
* apply to the Amiga, but the majority is applicable. *
* *
* This book is very helpful reading if your ability to solve SimCity *
* scenarios is low. I still cant solve all scenarios, but now come *
* a lot closer to achieving success. Even though the book tells you *
* how to solve the scenario, it still isn't easy. The timing of *
* construction, tax rates are left up to the reader to find out. *
* *
* This means that the book doesn't give you a step by step method to *
* solve scenarios. Some hint books for games, give away everything *
* and the need to play the game again disappears. This book shows *
* solutions but not how they were exactly achieved. The addictiveness *
* of the game is not lost. *
* *
* Overall this book is very good for the SimCity player who hasn't *
* conquered everything the game has to offer. *

SimCity Terrain Editor
****************************
* *
* Commercial Software - Maxis Software *
* *
* This program allows you to edit the terrain on which a city is to be *
* built. Another use is to create terrain on which to build a "perfect *
* city". Why would anyone want to do this? For myself, random *
* generated landscapes are not always to my liking. If I was to build *
* in the real world, I would carefully select the area. *
* *
* Dirt, Trees, Rivers, Channels (Shipping routes) can all be *
* manipulated. The year and difficulty level can be altered as well. *
* This combined with SimCity Funds Adjusters allows most *
* parameters to be altered. *
* *
* The program is simple to use. Each SimCity "block" consists of 9 *
* small "tiles". Each tile can be dirt, river, trees, or channel. The *
* required terrain type is selected and then the mouse is clicked *
* wherever this terrain is to be. A fill function similar to paint *
* programs can also be used for large areas. *
* *
* A city can be loaded to edit, or a terrain can be created from *
* scratch. Finally once the desired landscape is achieved, the city is *
* saved. *
* *
* Now this landscape can be loaded by SimCity and used by the game. *
* *
* I like this program and feel it is almost an essential item for *
* SimCity players. *
* *

SimCity : Ancient and Future Graphics Sets
**************
* *
* Commercial Software - Maxis Software *
* *
* I do not own these programs, but have played with them on a *
* friends computer. Basically it allows a different set of buildings *
* to be seen when playing SimCity. *
* *
* The graphic sets are not programs by themselves. A patch program is *
* included and modifies your BACKUP COPY OF SIMCITY program disc. When *
* SimCity is being played, you can change graphics from the edit *
* window. The appearance of the city then changes. *
* *
* I do not think highly of these graphic sets. The do not change the *
* game, just its appearance. They are fun to play with however. *
* *
* **********************************************************************
************************************************************************
* *
* I have sent megadisc a copy of SimCity Funds Adjustor, SimCity Print *
* Utilities, which might be able to be included on the MD_Extras disc. *
* I have also included a solution to dullsville adapted from "SimCity *
* Strategies and Secrets". I have also used City2IFF to convert this *
* solution to an IFF file. I then used DPIV to reduce this file in *
* size. It can be viewed with fullview (megaview). These files may be *
* too large to fit on the MD_Extras disc. If so they might be able to *
* form a PD library disc. I hope they are useful to SimCity Players. *
